By incorporating a few healthy habits into your daily routine,
you can keep your complexion looking clearer. Take a look
at some of them:
Good Nutrition |
- Never skip breakfast—eat a balanced meal such
as a high-fiber cereal, fruit or juice, and low-fat
milk or yogurt. If you use a vitamin and mineral supplement,
take it with your meal for optimum absorption, and
make sure it contains no more than 150 mcg of iodine,
which can worsen acne. Diet doesn't cause acne, but
good nutrition is important for overall good health
and clear, radiant skin.
|
Drink water |
- To keep your skin looking its best, drink at least
8 glasses of water throughout the day—more
with exercise. Be sure to drink water before, during
and after strenuous exercise to hydrate and rejuvenate
your skin.
|
Cleansing Routine |
- A cleansing routine is essential for keeping a clear
complexion. Gently cleanse your face twice a day
to remove excess oil, bacteria and dead skin cells.
Be careful not to over wash—this can cause dryness
or increase oil production.
|
Apply Sunscreen |
- Consistent sun bathing will increase clogged pores
and comedos. Initially, sun can seem to improve acne
because it temporarily dries out your skin. But your
skin produces more oil to compensate, which can increase
acne. Sun can also increase the risk of scarring. Always
apply a sunscreen with at least SPF-15 to protect against
the sun.
|
Makeup |
- All makeup can clog your pores. If you wear makeup,
be sure it's oil-free and non-comedogenic for best results.
|
Exercise |
- Exercise improves circulation and helps you relax,
reduce stress and feel more energized. Your skin
benefits from an increase in blood flow achieved by
a higher heart rate and oxygen level in the bloodstream.
- When
you exercise, wear loose-fitting cotton clothing.
Don't wear any makeup—even oil-free and non-comedogenic
makeup can clog your pores if worn when you perspire.
After exercising, cleanse and treat all acne prone
areas with Proactiv® Solution's 3-step system.
|
Relax |
- Take a few moments for yourself. The stress of work,
school and your daily routine can increase the level
of the hormone cortisone in your body. This causes your
skin to secrete more oil and can cause acne flare-ups.
|
Sleep |
- Most adults need at least 7 hours of sleep each night.
If you don't get enough rest, your skin may look pale
and dull, and it can break out.
